Parent Involvement

I warned you that I would take you along on my college journey. Today I am writing a paper for one of my classes, and I came across something that I believe very deeply. I thought I would share a little bit of my research with you.

When parents are actively involved in their children's education, these students have higher grade point averages and higher test scores. These students also enroll in more advanced classes, take on more credits, have better attendance, improved behavior at school, and better social skills.

After talking with teachers myself, I also found that students who are read to (on a consistant basis) before they start school are more successful, and feel more confident about school.

So, get involved with your children's education. Take time to know what they are doing in class, and help them with their homework. And read to your children! Give them the love of learning and the love of books.

I hear you! Being involved w/my kids in school is great all around. Knowing what they are learning and how they do it is key. Also having a relationship w/their teacher is immensely helpful. You go girl!
